Clip-in hair extensions can transform a look. Taking hair from drab to glam in one fell swoop, hair extensions are a vital part of women’s extended wardrobes up and down the country.
Despite being extremely common and simple to use, plenty of us girls still struggle to style them. Often afraid of giving them a brush or using product anywhere near them, we simply clip and go, leaving them to blend in with our natural hair. But with a bit of TLC – and expert knowhow – you can treat hair extensions just like your natural hair, ensuring it looks and feels amazing every single day.
So how should you style clip-in hair extensions?
Give it some heat
Before we go any further, make sure the extensions you’re using are made from real hair. If they’re artificial, don’t let them go near heat.
If you’ve invested in real extensions, however, then you can go to town. If you fancy a curly ‘do, clip them in first, spritz on some heat protection spray, and curl it with your natural hair for a seamless, undetected look. If you want to go for a sleeker look, you can straighten them either before or after you clip them in and enjoy fuller-looking locks.
If you’ve purchased from Curly Vision, you can rest assured that all our extensions are 100% human hair.
If you fancy a change, there’s no reason why you can’t dye your hair extensions to fit in with your new colour. Be careful when using any containing bleach however and always follow the instructions on the box.
Spray them in place
Real hair extensions behave just like natural hair, so you may get fly-away hairs from time to time. You can tame these by using hair products, such as hairspray to keep hairs in place all night long.
Give them a good wash
Wearing them every day, or even just a weekends will soon turn your shiny new locks into not-so-shiny extensions. So we advise you to give them a good wash every few wears to ensure they stay looking healthy and strong for as long as possible. You can use normal shampoo, but always make sure its nourishing and conditioning to keep moisture in for as long as possible!
